Text: 1 Corinthians 12:4–11, 28–30
Supporting Scripture: James 5:14–16
· The gift of healing is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit through which God brings wholeness or good health to people, often in ways that cannot be explained merely by ordinary human ability.
· Like the doctors say, we treat, but God heals.
· God is the healer, but most times, He manifests this healing through a human being.
· Healing can be miraculous, but not all miracles are healing. Healing covers a wider scope. For example, Jesus turning water into wine miraculously, the parting of the Red Sea, and the multiplication of the five loaves of bread and two fishes are all miracles and not healing.
· The gift of healing, just like other gifts of the Spirit, works or operates through the Holy Spirit, i.e., the leading of the Holy Spirit because He is the custodian.
· Anyone that has given his/her life to Christ inherently has the Holy Spirit, but a constant study and engagement with Him makes the individual more aware and helps the individual get to know about His manifestations.
· You can desire or covet the gift of healing. This will make you constantly engage the Holy Spirit in matters that have to do with healing, e.g., praying for the sick.
· Naturally, some people notice a recurring grace for healing. For example, when you pray for the sick, there is always healing. This is a signal that the gift of healing is actively at work in you.
Love for money
Pride
Disappointment — when healing does not happen.
· Use it as the Holy Spirit leads you. Don't bury it.
· Use it humbly and allow compassion to be your drive, not thinking more highly of yourself than you should. Be like Jesus, who was moved by compassion towards the sick.
· Use it freely and always give God the glory.
